Why Quality Meal Replacements Work!

Research suggests that continuing to utilize meal replacements as  part of a nutritious diet can help you maintain your goal weight better than using no meal replacements.

A study of 100 overweight people, published in the August 2000 issue of Obesity Research, showed that participants lost more weight initially and continued to lose more weight when meal replacements were used.  Half the participants followed a 1,200 to 1,500 calorie diet, while the other half had two meal replacements per day, plus one balanced meal.  After 90 days, the first group lost an average of 1.7 pounds while the second group lost 7 pounds!

For four years after the initial phase, the two groups were then asked to use one meal replacement and one snack replacement daily.  At the end of the four year period, the first group lost an additional 3 pounds and those who initially had been in the meal replacement group, lost an average of 8 pounds.

Another 5-year study showed that men using meal replacements part of the time lost 12.8 pounds and woman lost 9.2 pounds compared to those who did not use any meal replacements, who had an average weight gain of 2.2 pounds per year.
