Omega-3s

Ultra Omega-3

Ultra Omega-3 provides you with Omega-3 fatty acids that are brain-boosting, cholesterol-clearing good fats (polyunsaturated) that will help to lower your risk for heart disease, Alzheimer’s and obesity, to name a few.  There are 3 main forms of Omega-3:

Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) found in English walnuts and flax oil which the body converts to small amounts of DHA.

Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) found in fish oil.  Our American diet leaves us significantly deficient in DHA/EPA.  Supplementation can come from taking fish oil or oil derived from algae.

These essential oils are crucial to form healthy cell membranes in every cell of your body.  Without them, your cells cannot function normally (heart cells, brain cells, artery cells, etc.).  Unfortunately for most people, their cell membranes instead contain french fry fat, beef fat, potato chip fat and chicken fat.  These thicker fats make stiff cell membranes that malfunction.

Getting enough proper Omega-3 oils can contribute to increased fat burning and metabolic rate and helps to build muscle.  It can also effect high blood pressure, Diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, stroke risk, depression, cancer, inflammation, allergic conditions, memory and ADD.  Wow!   That’s a lot of good reasons to make sure you are getting some quality fish oil supplementation daily!

If that weren’t enough, fish oil consumption has remarkable effects on neurological function.  DHA is essential to brain health because it provides 30-50% of the total fatty acid content of the human brain (Young G et al 2005).  Deficiencies in DHA have been linked to cognitive decline in the elderly and implicated in Alzheimer’s disease as well.  DHA has been documented to increase phosphatidylserine (see our previous Newsletter on CFN’s Memory Plus for more).   Phosphatidylserine has been shown to foster healthy brain function and is not only helpful in terms of treating cognitive decline, but also in avoiding its onset.  Scientists believe that phosphatidylserine supplementation works optimally if DHA levels are kept commensurately high (Kidd P 2005).

CFN’s Ultra Omega-3 supplement is of the highest quality.  It is a purified and concentrated form of Omega-3 and is free of ocean contaminants like Mercury and PCB’s.  It provides a full 750 mg of EPA and DHA oils per capsule (500 mg of EPA and 250 mg of DHA).  We recommend 2-4 capsules per day for optimal protection.
