Memory Plus
Memory Plus is a supplement containing the memory enhancing nutrient, Phosphatidylserine (PS). PS is a type of fat found in every cell in the body. It is particularly concentrated in the brain, where it keeps cell membranes fluid, flexible, and primed for nutrient absorption. PS allows cells to better “speak” to one another by keeping cell membranes fluid so chemical messages can be sent back and forth.
PS levels naturally decline with age, and so too does the ability to learn, remember, and focus. PS supplements are rapidly absorbed into the brain and may compensate for low PS levels to prevent and possibly reverse age-related declines in brain function. PS naturally appears in numerous foods, including rice and green leafy vegetables, but only in small amounts. The Center for Nutrition’s Memory Plus is a concentrated source of PS, offering 100 mg per Vcap.
In one 12-week study of adults ages 50-75, those who took 300 mg PS/day were better able to learn and recall names, faces, and numbers than those taking a placebo. All participants had been diagnosed with age-related memory impairment. “Phosphatidylserine is a safe and effective dietary supplement with proven potential to improve the quality of life for millions of our elderly, offering proven benefits that are unmatched or exceeded by any other know nutrient or pharmaceutical.” The Science of Anti-Aging Medicine.
To date, this nutrient has an unblemished safety record. Rarely, nausea has been reported, and if a large does (600 mg) is taken just before going to bed, sleeplessness can occur. There are no known drug/nutrient interactions.
Dose: Take three CFN Memory Plus Vcaps for the first month, and 1-2 Vcaps thereafter at the breakfast meal, unless otherwise advised by your healthcare provider.
